Saturday, May 23 | Marathon County Library, Wausau
Take a trip down memory lane with local artist Bob Becker as he presents a delightful collection of nostalgic artwork accurately depicting Wausau in the 1950s and 1960s. Becker will share the stories and memories behind many of his detailed illustrations, offering a warm glimpse into what life in Wausau was like during those decades. This event is perfect for people who grew up in the area or simply enjoy a little hometown history. Becker owned and operated Becker Communications in Schofield for 54 years. Having grown up in Wausau in the 1950s and witnessed its profound changes, Becker, in 2018, began creating artistic scenes depicting many street corners as they appeared in that era. This free presentation, sponsored by the Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks, is held in the library Community Room, 2-4 p.m. 715-212-9922.
Friday, May 22 │ Marathon County Library, Wausau
There’s no school on Friday, so teens are invited to game together at the library! They’ll be playing Screencheat on the library’s Nintendo Switch console. Screancheat is a fast-paced, first-person shooter where everyone is invisible, so players are forced to look at each other’s screen to win. It’s a great way to play video games while also socializing in-person. Can you cheat your way to the win? This free event is open to young adults from 2:30-4:30 p.m. For more information, call 715-261-7220.
