Engage in art across Wausau, dine at food trucks in the park or take the kids to a firefighter story time! Here are six fun things to do around Wausau this week:
Sept. 12-13 | Third Street, Downtown Wausau
For one weekend every September, the heart of downtown Wausau doesn’t just host an art show; it becomes a living, breathing gallery. From the lively music and dance performances echoing off the 400 Block stage to the smell of fresh-made crepes and kettle corn drifting down Third Street, the Wausau Festival of Arts is a full-sensory experience. Drawing over 120 top-tier artists from as far away as Hawaii, the festival is a massive, volunteer-driven effort that temporarily transforms our city streets into a vibrant hub of culture and community. There’s kids crafts and activities, live music, food vendors and — of course — art to view and purchase. Free. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. wausaufoa.org
Sept. 12-13 | Marathon Park, Wausau
The art isn’t just limited to downtown Wausau this weekend. With three big buildings and hundreds of vendors, Art World is one of the biggest craft and gift selling events in Central Wisconsin. Even better: Art World is completely indoors and free from the worries of weather. Customers and vendors come from across the country to participate in the craft and gift spectacular every September. Come join Art World for its 40th celebration. Free admission. almondtreeevents.com
