Big Bull Falls Blues Fest is Wisconsin’s longest running blues music festival and is back for another year. Join Wausau Events on Fern Island in the heart of downtown Wausau for a weekend of great music, food vendors and company. On Friday, Aug. 21, event gates open at 4 p.m. with music performances at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. On Saturday, Aug. 22, event gates open at noon with performances at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Single day tickets cost $15 on Friday and $75 on Saturday, Full weekend tickets cost $80, and VIP tickets cost $180 and can be purchased online. Join Children’s Wisconsin at their Marathon County office for a high-energy hour designed for young children and their caregivers. The hour-long session, beginning at 5:30 p.m., will include singing, dancing and playing interactive games inspired by “Danny Go!” and “Bluey” while getting energy out. For the third Architecture Amble of the summer, Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks is heading up to the Highland Park Boulevard Historic District. This district is packed with intriguing architecture, including a building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Meet at the corner of McIndoe and North 13th streets at 6 p.m. to explore the district’s architecture and history. Included in this tour are the homes of Charles and Dorothy Manson, A.P. and Leigh Woodson, D.C. and Lillian Everest, Louis and Angeline Koss and S. Knox and Earline Kreutzer.
