The Friends of Wausau Historic Landmarks presents their second Architecture Amble of the season. The walking tour begins at the upper parking lot of Riverside Park at 6 p.m. and will explore the Third Avenue Neighborhood between Thomas Street and Stewart Avenue. The Third Avenue Neighborhood’s architecture and history reveal a thriving community filled with homes, businesses and industry. This tour includes many stories and names that are still familiar, such as Kohlman’s & Lee’s, Baeseman’s, The Red Apple and Grace UCC. But, it also includes those that are beginning to fade into the past, like Bill’s Fine Foods, Pope’s Hobbyland, Irving School, MacDonald Pool and Porter Tannery. Friday, July 24 | First Universalist Unitarian Church, Wausau
As July is nearing its end, the South Beach Up North Chamber Ensemble is gearing up for its 20th annual chamber music festival in Wausau. The series kicks off on Friday with Mozart on the Move, a free family-friendly concert, at 6 p.m. A select high school string quartet is coached and will accompany the professional quartet. Saturday, July 25 | DC Everest Country Park, Wausau
Join the Paddle Pub Crawl on July 25 at 10 a.m. for a recreational open paddle event! All activities are at the participants own risk. Bring kayaks, canoes, SUP boards or anything paddle-powered as there are several stops at riverside bars and sandbars, along with celebratory cheers under several bridges. Janet Planet performs a free jazz concert from 5-7 p.m. as a part of the Jazz on the River series held in downtown Wausau at Kickbusch Plaza along the Wisconsin River. There is parking in the lot directly behind the library building. Chang’s Best Eggrolls food truck will be parked at the venue. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring their own chairs. Bring your cooler and a lawn chair! Concerts on the Square this week features music from Still Reckless: a 1990s-inspired country band that spans hits from the 90s all the way through today. Still Reckless embraces a deep affection for the country music of the past decades. At this free 13-week concert series, over 2,000 people gather each week to listen to live music, eat, drink and enjoy the Wisconsin summer nights together.
