Dance in a silent disco, compete in a Mario Kart tournament or practice yoga amid fine art! Here are seven fun things to do around Wausau this week:
Saturday, May 30 | Infused, Wausau
Find music, movement and meaningful community at this new event from NAMI Northwoods! Wausau is about to experience something it never has before. Kase Styles Events hosts Let Go Disco — the first-ever public silent disco in Wausau — at Infused, located at 180 E Wausau Ave. A silent disco is a one-of-a-kind experience where guests wear wireless headphones and choose between multiple live DJ channels — each playing a different genre, each lighting up the room in a different color. The music is entirely personal, yet the dance floor is anything but. It’s a shared experience that feels simultaneously intimate and electric, and it’s something Wausau has never seen on a public stage. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the night runs through 10 p.m. Tickets are $35, with every single dollar going directly to NAMI Northwoods. Attendance is limited to the first 100 people. The best events leave you feeling something — and this one is designed to do exactly that. naminorthwoods.org
Saturday, May 30 | Glass & Grain House, Wausau
Grab your controllers and warm up those blue shell throws. Glass & Grain House is hosting their first ever Mario Kart Tournament. They’re taking it back to the classic with the greatest racing game ever made, 1996’s “Mario Kart 64,” with a room full of competitors and a cash grand prize on the line. The more players that register, the bigger that prize pool gets! This is a round-robin tournament, so there is plenty of play-time for everyone. Top finishers advance to the finals bracket later that evening for a head-to-head showdown to decide the champion! Whether you’ve been practicing since 1996 or you’re just in it for the chaos, come out for a night of serious fun and friendly competition. Tournament starts at 5 p.m. $10 entry fee. Adults 21+ only.
Saturday, May 30 | Stoney Acres Farm, Athens
Grab a slice and listen to Americana and folk stylings of Meaghan Owens. Her set kicks off at 5 p.m. 715-432-6285.
Monday, June 1 │ Marathon County Library, Wausau
Calling all artists and illustrators! The Marathon County Public Library’s Illustration Contest kicks off this week. Design a cover, illustrate a scene or create a piece of art inspired by the summer library theme, “Unearthing a Story”. The theme is up to interpretation, but please note that contestants will be required to provide a brief description about how their artwork aligns with the theme. The contest begins Monday, June 1, and the deadline for submissions is Tuesday, June 30. There are two separate age groups: teen (13-18) and adult (19+). Submissions must be original, unpublished work (no artificial intelligence) created by a Marathon County resident. For more rules and guidelines, visit mcpl.us/event/illustration-contest.

Wednesday, June 3 | 400 Block, Wausau
Bring your cooler and a lawn chair! Concerts on the Square, organized by Wausau Events, returns on Wednesday with music from The Now: a longtime area band that performs five decades of rock, country and pop hits with concert style sound and lighting. At this free 13-week concert series, over 2,000 people gather each week to listen to live music, eat, drink and enjoy the Wisconsin summer nights together. Carry-ins are allowed with rotating food trucks available onsite every week. Check wausauevents.org for food truck listings.
Sunday, May 31 | Hillside Pub, Ringle
Support families affected by the Ringle tornado by enjoying good food, cold drinks and plenty of fun. There will be live music from a variety of local bands, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, a bake sale and family-friendly activities. All funds raised will be donated to the Ringle Fire Department, which will distribute assistance directly to affected families. Noon to 6 p.m. This community event is organized by Hatley Hangout, Schofield Lions Club and Hillside Pub.
